Ashtanga Yoga

Erin Cronin

Erin began practicing yoga in 1997 in a small studio in Bowling Green, KY. She moved to Louisville, KY in 2002 and came upon Laura Spaulding at Yoga East and fell in love with Ashtanga Yoga. She is certified RYT-500, graduating from Yoga East’s 200 hr training in 2009 and 300 hr module in 2012.  Laura Spaulding has been her teacher and inspiration, and she has also studied at KPJAYI in Mysore, India, and is influenced by workshops with David Swenson, Kino MacGregor, David Garrigues, Ramanand Patel, Doug Keller, Francois Raoult & Christina Sell. She is an avid Ashtanga Yoga practioner who enjoys dabbling in other forms, as well. 

Laura Spaulding

Laura began practicing yoga in 1967. She has practiced and studied in the Sivananda, Iyengar and Ashtanga systems, but her main practice is Ashtanga Yoga.  She studied with K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore in 1999 and 2002-2009. She continues to study with Saraswathi and Sharath Jois. Certifications: Yoga East (1994), AYRI Authorization by K Pattabhi Jois (2004), KPJAYI Level 2 (2009), ERYT500 (2007) and YACEP (2016).

Gail Minotti

Gail began practicing yoga as a teen. She met her first teacher Gloria Hess,a student of Swami Rama of the Himalayan Institute in 1972 when they were both students at Spalding University. Gail has been studying with Laura Spaulding since 2002. She feels very blessed to have practiced with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois in New York 2005. Gail studied with Saraswati Jois in Mysore, India in 2014. She practiced with Sharath Jois in Louisville in 2003,in New York 2011,in Encinitas in 2013,in Uttarkashi India in 2015 . Gail's personal practice is Ashtanga but she is very grateful to Ramanand Patel and  Francois Raoult for their teachings. Gail is a graduate of Yoga East 2010 teacher training program.

Joe Autry

Joe Autry was born and raised in the Kentuckiana area. He is a professional sculptor and has been practicing/studying Ashtanga yoga for 5 years at Yoga East with Laura Spaulding, receiving a 200hr certification in 2012.
Joe has traveled to Mysore, India and studied with Saraswathi Jois.
He has studied with many senior teachers, David Swenson, David Garrigus, Ramanand Patel, Kino McGregger, Francois Raoult, Doug Keller, Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
 

Lauren Nugent

Lauren began her yoga journey in 2010. She discovered yoga during college and immediately noticed how each practice replaced stress with a sense of calm and tranquility. She began a daily practice in 2011 through Vinyasa and Rocket-style classes, both of which motivated and challenged her. Lauren completed a 200-hour certification with It’s Yoga Firenze in 2013 and has been teaching classes ever since. Her experience in teacher training led her to explore Ashtanga yoga, and she now maintains a daily Mysore-style practice that inspires her teaching.
Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional form of yoga that is a series of postures in vinyasa style. This class begins with 10-15 minutes of sun salutations and continues with 48 important poses including all the important standing and seated poses of yoga plus hip openers, arm balances, backbends, shoulderstand and headstand. Open to all levels - recommended for students with some yoga experience. The instructor will suggest modifications for more complicated postures. This is a challenging class.  Not recommended for students with wrist problems.
