Why train at Yoga East?

• Yoga East is one of the oldest yoga schools in the country, established as a non-profit educational organization in 1974. We are one of the few yoga programs in the country which is recognized by the IRS as a not-for-profit charitable organization.
• Yoga East is recognized as a leader in yoga training and education here in the Greater Louisville community, nationally and internationally.
• Completing our training gives you a lifetime connection to a long-established yoga community that provides support and services to its graduates long after your training has ended.  Many of our graduates return here for further training, workshops, study, and assistance.  We have assisted many of our graduates in traveling to study in India. We provide job referrals to our alumni, and help them start their own studios, wellness businesses and teacher training programs.
• Alumni get discounts on classes and workshops and have access to our library and our other resources - including our greatest resource - our outstanding, experienced teachers who have practiced yoga for many years.

Wake Up to Your Inner Courage and Live the Life of Your Dreams.
Mt. Kailash
This is the beautiful and inspiring message on a photo of Mt. Kailash that is hanging at the Kentucky Street Studio. Mt. Kailash is a mountain in an isolated region in the Himalayas in Tibet. A sacred pilgrimage site for many religious traditions, it has also become a popular pilgrimage site for many people, including many Westerners who undertake the trek every year. Even in the modern age, trekking to Mt. Kailash is an difficult journey with many obstacles. We are drawn to such a journey because we sense that something great is waiting for us out there in the unknown... something that will take us beyond our current limited experience.

Yoga Teacher Training is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the timeless and life-changing teachings and practices of yoga. Whether you intend to teach yoga, or whether you want to inspire your yoga practice and take it to the next level, we invite you to join us in the journey of a lifetime.
Laura Spaulding, our lead trainer, has been studying and practicing yoga for 49 years and has visited India to study yoga twelve times since 1986.  She is an E-RYT 500 hour Yoga Alliance teacher trainer, and has over 10,000 hours of study, practice and teaching experience.  She has been training yoga teachers since 1995, and has trained over 150 yoga teachers, several of whom have successfully opened their own yoga studios.

Yoga East is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization.  Our non-profit mission is to offer yoga education and training in the Greater Louisville metropolitan area.  For the past forty years we have been training yoga teachers to teach classical yoga.  Our teacher training programs are nationally-recognized, and are registered with Yoga Alliance, a national yoga registry program that has set standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher training schools.
