refund and withdrawal policy |
|
Refund/Withdrawal Policy |
|
We have been training teachers since 1995, and many
of our teachers are successfully pursuing
a career teaching yoga. Our experience has
shown that applicants who studied yoga in Yoga East classes for at
least two years before entering teacher training are most
likely to successfully complete the
course. If you have not had two years of
Yoga East class experience we urge you to consider postponing your
training until you have more experience.
You should also postpone the training if you are pregnant or plan to
become pregnant, if you are starting a new business, or if
you are enrolled in college or graduate school,
as all of these circumstances in the past have caused
students to have to withdraw from the training. |
|
Specific refund policies are shown on the
applications. |

Current Yoga East RYT200 teachers: $150 tuition reduction. |
| Financial aid is based on financial need and takes
the form of work-study opportunities. These opportunities
include teaching yoga in supervised settings,
assisting
an experienced teacher, teaching yoga to seniors, cancer
survivors, at-risk children and teens, shelter residents and other
classes for individuals who may not normally have access to yoga
classes. |
|
Financial aid is only available to students
with demonstrated financial need, who have maintained a regular practice in
classes at Yoga East for a minimum of one year prior to taking teacher training-level
classes. |
|
Rhonda Lawson Memorial Scholarship
Fund |
|
Named in honor of our teacher training student Rhonda Lawson. The day before
she was to have begun our teacher training program in 2004, Rhonda was seriously injured
in an automobile accident and passed away a few days later. This scholarship honors
the memory of Rhonda, a dedicated student who wanted to bring the benefits of yoga to as
many people as possible. The scholarship pays the total
tuition for a student to complete our 200 Hour Foundation Yoga Teacher Training. Please
note that there are prerequisites, the most important of which is that you have maintained
regular class attendance for a significant period of time, a minimum of
one year. If you do not currently attend classes at Yoga East, you need to
establish a record of regular attendance before we will consider your application.
One scholarship is
awarded each year to the most deserving student with
financial need. |
|
2011-2012 Scholarship Recipient: Rebecca Thompson |
|
Rebecca has been a regular Yoga East student for many years,
attending Gentle, Hatha and Ashtanga classes regularly. Rebecca has
been a volunteer, cleaning the Kentucky Street studio on a weekly
basis for almost three years. Rebecca took our 40 Hour Volunteer
Teacher Training in 2009 and has taught a regular Tuesday class at
Gilda's Club for over a year. Rebecca has been a volunteer
substitute teacher for our Gentle Yoga classes. Additionally Rebecca
has contributed to Yoga East by maintaining a regular auto debit
membership without pause for over five years and she has
consistently supported Yoga East's mission through donations.
Rebecca is already an outstanding example of a Yoga East Teacher. |
